Optech Scientific is delighted to announce the launch of the Optech Unit Trust (OPTUT). OPTUT will continue to utilise the same patented market algorithms which proved so successful for the Optech Startup Fund. Staff costs are virtually none existent due to my work earlier this week re-programming a maintainance bot to handle general business transactions, and I'm still flying an Ibis which should tell you something about how seriously we take compound growth at Optech.
Full details are available at the Optech Information Centre

Originally by: Cerwyn Taraman are you accepting orders for Unit Trusts already? I read through the documentation and you mentioned Week of March 18th in the pricing of the Unit Trusts, is that when investment is opened?
Thanks, Cerwyn
Thanks Cerwyn. I will clarify what I meant on the Optech site. I'm happy for people to buy units as of now. The week 1 unit price will be held from now until the end of week 1 which will be 23.00 Sat 24th March. One block of 5 units is currently 5.375 mil. Eve mail and isk transfer to Utility Bot please as per prospectus details.
In effect that gives a 9 day week one if you see what I mean. The fund will be revalued Sat 24, and the week 2 unit price published.
For existing investors in OSF, if you currently hold 5 units of OSF I am happy to roll these forward into OPTUT if you tell me to do so. Eve mail to Utility Drone please. You will then get (Initial cost OSF units+OSF weekly dividend-cost of OPTUT units) returned this Saturday.
If Utility Drone doesn't hear to the contrary I will simply cash out the OSF holding for you and you can buy in to OPTUT when/if ever.

Thank you Kasia,
i. Investment period open now. Any additional funds invested into the new fund OPTUT be introduced this Sat 17th. Any instructions to roll forward investment from OSF to OPTUT will be introduced on this Sat 17th. These will form the basis of the week 1 funds under management. Consequently these investors will get a dividend at the end of week 1.
ii. No maximum to investment, and yes I'm asking for blocks of 5 units which I hope is a compromise between allowing people to start small, and Utility Drone having to spend hours processing dividends on tiddly investments!
iii. No free shares on this I'm afraid as this is not the IPO for Optech Scientific. It will happen in the fullness of time, and the OSF investors will indeed get their pound of flesh as promised
No I'm not put off accepting your investment, far from it. The more intellectual rigour applied the better! Optech Scientific Information Centre |

Originally by: Raekone Hi,
Sorry if my brain is a bit soft but... what in fact is a unit exactly then? And why would I want to buy one? Other than those initial questions it seems rather interesting wih a spiffy website and all :)
Well if you've thought of the question, you can bet someone else has wondered too. Unit trust units are a bit like a shares insofar as you are buying a piece of an asset. In the case of shares the asset is the company, and for a unit trust the asset is a fund - isk, trading stock, BP's, tangible stuff like ships etc.
The fund manager, i.e. Optech makes a market in the units and commits to buy and sell the units from investors according to a fixed formula based the underlying value of the fund.
As a potential investor you are hoping that you will receive capital growth (in the value of the units) and weekly income on your investment. Again this is very similar to shares. Optech Scientific Data Feed |

Originally by: Heikki On quick browsing I failed to find some basic information, like: - How you actually generate the profits (business models etc), and some proof (screenshots or so) you actually doing that
Profits are from trading and small scale manufacturing at the moment.

- Your arguments for why you are not group of alts, but instead a legimitate player.
I am indeed running Optech singlehandedly, it's far more efficient and all but eliminates dissent! Utility Bot is clearly just a bot, and as suggested in my blog my trader works using "Optech Market Optimizer biological algorithms (TM) to trade and grow this capital." i.e. She does exactly what I tell her

Got direct links for those?
Not so much unlike those standard RL pyramid schemes, where the issuer does pay ISK for a while at start.
From your Galnet history you have been piloting a number of years and would presumably have some credibility. If you are prepared to keep the nature of my trades in confidence by all means convo me and I can let you see my traders wallet. The quid pro quo would be to confirm here that Optech is generating the stated profits. I'm not going to make a habit of it otherwise it will be like working for the monkeys at the School of Applied Knowledge, but its an emminently reasonable request. Optech Scientific Data Feed |

Originally by: Remedios Sonrisa As a prospective investor, I have a couple of questions:
1. What previous experience(s) do you have that makes you believe that the venture will be successful?
2. Owing to the exclamation/bang (!) icon of your avatar, I suspect Bunsen is a pretty new character (at work presently so can't check your employment history)? If so, why are you not using an older, more established one for the enterprise?
Thanks.
Please have read the Optech website for backround about events so far and I'm sure you will see exactly where I'm coming from. Start with the Optech Startup Fund blog and move forward from there. As of Saturday there will be precisely 3 weeks history of published profits available. Not a long history admittedly, but thats what I've got so far. Those potential investors who would like a longer track record must, I'm afraid, check back in x weeks (where x=acceptable track record for you).

I have decided to close OPTUT to new investment temporarily. This is because the funds under management have increased from 100 mil to 2 bil in just a few weeks. It has only been a month since I left the School of Applied Knowledge and the working capital is running ahead of the skills list at present. Rather than risk dilution of profits to unacceptably low levels (in my opinion) for current investors I would prefer to close the doors temporarily and let the dust settle. When I am confident that OPTUT can make effective use of a larger capital sum I will re-open to new investment.

I have had to think carefully about the future of the fund. OPTUT has delivered some 27% profit over its first month and to be blunt under the existing terms it would have been better for me to wind up the fund and simply work for myself. This was an option, however I believe that with a more sustainable return to investors there will still be a mutually profitable relationship. I have therefore given notice of several alterations to conditions of fund which will come into effect from 21/4/07 (see current prospectus). Anticipated weekly fund profits have been revised to 3% per week which is approx 12.5% per month. I have decided to stop paying a weekly dividend and instead 100% of profits will be re-invested for NAV growth. This will considerably simplify the end of week valuation as the manual payments were a pain and I was constantly worried about making an incorrect payment. We will see if there is any appetite for such an offering over the weeks ahead and consequently the fund has been re-opened to investors on the revised terms.
Investors can of course cash out with a healthly profit if the new offering does not satisfy them.
When I have a better idea of who remains on-board (and consequently the size of the war chest) I will be looking at purchasing some BPO's to make some isk of research and copying with a planned first audit of the fund to take place over the coming month.

Edited by: Professor Bunsen on 21/04/2007 17:15:38 Another good week for OPTUT with 10.95% profits. Thats 56% profit in 5 weeks if you add dividends to unit growth Funds under management are now 3.5 billion isk.
As previously notified OPTUT is moving to become a pure growth fund with all profits re-invested to fund unit growth with future predicted profits in the region of 12-15% per month.
The fund is now officially re-opened for investment with purchases in blocks of 10 units costing 15.1 million. Funds to "Utility Bot" please.
